Dear Members,

I am a little late with the newsletter this time, but thought I would synchronise it with my Diwali greetings, and wishes for A prosperous New Year to one and all.

1. Our annual Members' Singing competition, which is eagerly awaited and achieves a high standard, will be held on Sunday 28 November, at Azad Bhavan Auditorium, near ITO and WHO. The theme is songs based on western beats like rhumba, samba, waltz, cha-cha-cha- and rock'-n-roll, twist, etc. Or songs which are completely based on western tunes. The participant will have to identify the inspirational song as well in case of a direct copy. Songs can be selected up to 1975 only. Members who wish to participate must send in their entries latest by 15 November to me by mail or telephone or sms. 

2. From 2011, a registration fee of Rs 200/- will be added to the annual subscription in case of new members. Membership of those members whose subscription does not reach us by July 7, will be considered terminated and if they wish to join they will be liable to pay the registration charges

 3.  Baithaks

Baithaks are a cause of heartburn to those who feel they have not been invited. However, there is no partiality regarding attendance at baithaks. Members are usually chosen for their residence in proximity, their ability to sing well, or the earliest acceptance on receiving intimation of the baithak. This has to be limited because of shortage of space in residences. We recently experimented holding a baithak in a club party room which could accommodate more people. This works out more expensive as payment is made for hiring the room itself and catering has to be by the club and therefore at a fixed cost. Baithaks must be self-sufficient and finance themselves. With reference to the previous baithak where a shortfall of funds was experienced, some regulations were arrived at a committee meeting held on 27 September.

Baithak zones have been created according to areas. The zonal divisions with membership numbers can be found in this letter. Membership numbers are always put on the top of the envelopes sent by courier so members are requested to note their numbers in order to identify their zone.

Each zone will have at least four heads responsible for organising the baithaks in their area. Musicians will be provided by the organising committee. Preferably money should be paid in advance to the zone leaders to avoid embarrassment due to shortage of funds at the event. Members who need to back out after confirmation should inform at least 48 hrs in advance or be liable to pay their contribution.

4. A charity show in aid of an NGO will be held once a year for which donor cards will be made available.   Members will be requested to help in selling donor cards as our effort towards a social cause. Please join your good heart to your good listening ear for this purpose.

5. Those who wish to renew for 2011 may pay their subscriptions by cheque only at the Members Meet on 28 Nov.
